The Likewise Management Console: Screen Shots

The Likewise Management Console is a graphical user interface for managing Mac, Linux, and Unix user accounts and computers in within Active Directory. The console connects to Active Directory so you can manage the status of your domains and generate reports about Unix accounts. The management console is installed on a Windows workstation that connects to an AD domain controller.

You can use the management console to perform the following tasks:

Get status information about your Active Directory forests and domains.
Import and assign Likewise licenses.
Pull reports about Unix users, groups, and computers. These reports are especially helpful for auditing Unix user accounts in ADUC.
Move Unix and Linux users and groups from a NIS system to Active Directory by importing password and group files and mapping the data to users and groups in AD.
Find and delete orphaned objects.
Run multiple instances of the console and point them at different domains.
Run the console with a different user account.
Connect to a different domain.

After you install the console, you can manage Unix user accounts with Active Directory Users and Computers. In addition, you can use the Group Policy Object Editor to create or edit Linux- and Unix-specific group policies, and you can use the Group Policy Management Console to view information about cross-platform group policies.

The Likewise Administrative Console

Likewise Enterprise includes a second console, the Likewise Administrative Console. It is an extensible service for running management applications, or snap-ins, on a Linux or Mac computer. For example, the Likewise Administrative Console gives you administrative access from a Linux computer to users, computers, groups, organizational units, and Likewise cells in Active Directory. You can add, delete, and modify the properties of Active Directory objects from your Linux desktop.
